About West Seattle Blog

West Seattle Blog is West Seattle’s independent, hyperlocal news source. What started in 2005 as a personal blog grew into a full-time community news operation after the 2006 Hanukkah Eve windstorm, when neighbors turned to us for real-time updates on power outages and storm damage. Since then, WSB has covered the news, events, and everyday life of West Seattle — from breaking crime and traffic updates to business openings, community events, and local voices.

WSB was founded by Tracy Record, a former television news director, and her husband Patrick Sand. Patrick passed away in October 2024; Tracy continues to lead the site today. Our sister site, White Center Now, covers the neighboring White Center community.
